You get automatic access to the LayOut program when you have the Pro version of Sketchup. It's possible that you have been using Sketchup for a long time without realizing that you also have this useful tool.

So what is LayOut used for?

LayOut allows you to create technical documentation based on a 3D model from Sketchup. For example, you can use a 3D model of a house you're working on to create a floor plan, and then add detailed dimensions, descriptions, and graphics. You can then save this prepared sheet as a PDF or print it directly on the desired paper size. Of course, you can also use the same method to prepare sections and elevations.

The biggest advantage of this solution is that if we prepare the drawing in LayOut properly, making changes in the Sketchup model will automatically update our 2D drawing without the need for manual corrections!

Of course, it is important to remember that LayOut is mainly suitable for creating relatively simple technical drawings. Nevertheless, it is perfect for presenting a single-family house project, furniture design, and small landscaping. If you are looking for a tool to create more complex documentation, you will have to explore other software options.
